  1. The Nutcracker and the Mouse King at Amsterdam's Muziektheater, 15 December to 1 January 2012 - The Dutch National Ballet perform the modern Dutch twist to the classic fairytale ballet, perfect for Christmas time.

  2. Boom Chicago is a great place to catch some Christmas comedy, where big laughs and quick thinking are always in store! Their special Christmas show runs from 12 - 26 December (details to be announced) and a delicious new winter menu has been created. Head along for a Christmas crack-up with a tasty meal to boot!

  3. World Christmas Circus 2011 at the Royal Theatre Carré, 22 December to 8 January 2012 - A modern circus featuring international artists brings all the fun of the fair to the festive season.

  4. Winterparade at Westergasfabriek, 21 - 26 December - The winter version of the classic festival full of live acts and performances. This year, the Winterparade again allows you to join 500 other guests on a 120 metre long table for a festive menu and stacks of entertainment.

  5. Ice Skating, throughout the city. Get your skates on and glide around the Jaap Edenbaan or head to the smaller rinks at Museumplein (open 21 December to 27 February 2012) orLeidseplein. And then warm up with a hot meal and a drink at one of the nearby cafes!

  6. Pink Christmas - citywide - 'Don we now, our gay apparel.' Pink Christmas finds celebrations around the city for the gay community.

The Netherlands ranks second in a proficiency index carried out, reflecting the fact that almost the entire Dutch population speaks English, especially in the greater Amsterdam area, a fact attributed to all the foreigners living there.

 

Art Amsterdam

It’s true, this year’s edition of Art Amsterdam held at the RAI exhibition centre was indeed very international, with galleries from all over the Netherlands as well as ones from Paris, Montréal, Seoul, Berlin and more. 24oranges was lucky enough to walk around on VIP night before the fair opens to the general public today, running until 15 May, courtesy of a sponsor of art site Trendbeheer.com.
