  • Full Itinerary
  • Your guide meets you at the bicycle rental shop. Here, we spend some time taking you through all the basic rules of cycling in Amsterdam.

Once you have mastered the basics, we put you to the test by taking a ride from the bike shop into the town centre and then into a mystery neighbourhood where you not only get to explore an area off the tourist trail but you whave the opportunity to put into practice everything you have learned, with your guide by your side in case you have any problems or have any further questions you wish to ask.

There are four neighbourhoods to choose from on our Amsterdam by bike tour and our chosen destination very much depends on the weather and the ability and preferences of the group.

In the northern part of Amsterdam, you can take a ferry ride by bike to see the Amsterdam Tower. If we head south, we see the famous Albert Cuypmarkt, one of the most popular markets in the Netherlands. A journey east leads us to the zoo and the WWII Resistance Museum, and finally, if we collectively decide to head west, then we take you to a charming city park and perhaps catch a local craft market if it’s the weekend.

Along the way, we chat about the unique two-wheeled history of Amsterdam and you hear famous bicycle-related tales, such as why the Nazis hated Amsterdam cyclists with a passion.

After two hours of cycling with your Amsterdam Urban Adventures local guide, we’re certain you’ll be confident enough to continue your exploration without us! You are welcome to keep the bike for the rest of the day or you can also choose to end your biking experience here, it’s totally up to you!

This Amsterdam cycling lesson and tour is all about introducing you to cycling in the city, while we aim to tell you a bit about the sights and sounds around us, this is not a sightseeing tour. If you’re looking for a longer, cultural experience, we’d recommend booking our Bikes & Dyks group tour, where you’re able to show off your new Dutch bike skills and see the best of the city too!
